How to Use Micropore Tape for Mushroom Growing:

Increasing Airflow and Gas Exchange: Once your grain and substrate mix is fully colonized, sterilize the outside of the bag and cut a 1-inch slit on the gusset side (away from the mushrooms). This slit helps off-gas the CO2 and enhances fruiting conditions by allowing oxygen to enter. Gently press out the CO2 and re-expand the bag to bring in fresh oxygen. Cover the slit with a piece of breathable micropore tape. Perform this task in a clean and sterile environment.

Create a Self-Healing Injection Port: If you are using a grain spawn bag or an all-in-one grow bag without a self-healing injection port, you can create one using micropore tape. First, sterilize your bag, apply a strip of tape, and inject through it. After inoculation, seal it with another layer of tape.

Tips:

• Keep the micropore tape dry to prevent water saturation, as this can block airflow.
• Be gentle when replacing or adjusting tape to avoid disturbing the developing mycelium.
